Hudson River Sloop Clearwater

Clearwater’s longtime strategy of inspiring, educating and activating people is still a powerful formula for success. Utilizing the greatest natural resource in the region–the Hudson River–Clearwater has become the grassroots model for producing changes to protect our planet.

More than ever before, though, we need to invest in our youth and realize a green, sustainable future.

We recently launched the Next Generation Legacy Project, an ambitious environmental education initiative that will introduce thousands of school-age children and young adults to the Hudson River and its watershed through innovative, hands-on learning programs that provide a continuum of experiences from elementary school right through college.

This comprehensive project, which Clearwater is now proudly committing its resources to as part of Pete Seeger’s remarkable legacy, will develop new green leaders who are ready to put the “eco” back into “economy.”

Over the years, Clearwater has been at the forefront of the environmental movement, working to pass landmark legislation like the Clean Water Act and protecting all of us from toxic waste.

But the job of saving our earth is, in many ways, just starting. We have to increase our efforts and attract more people, especially youths of all ethnicities, economic and cultural backgrounds, to the cause of promoting green jobs and industries that won’t harm our planet. The future truly hangs in balance.

Please think about becoming a member of Clearwater to support our work. Or see about some of our volunteer opportunities. Host a house party or a pot luck dinner to help raise awareness about Clearwater.

Best of all, come sail aboard the sloop Clearwater, where you’ll find the next generation of environmental leaders!
